The Dead Perform At Month Long Tour In 2009

After a gap of five long years, the Dead, as the surviving members of The Grateful Dead are called, have announced plans to perform at a month long tour in 2009. The tour starts off at Greensboro, NC on April 12 and hits a total of 16 cities, finally ending at Mountain View, CA on May 10. The cities they visit on the tour include Albany, NY; Wilkes-Barre, PA; Rosemont, IL and Inglewood, CA. They make a few 2-day stops in cities including Worcester, MA; E. Rutherford, NJ and Philadelphia, PA.

The Dead lineup includes Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart. The tour will feature guitarist Warren Haynes from Gov't Mule/Alllman Brothers Band and Keyboardist Jeff Chimenti. The Dead decided on conducting a tour when 3 members of the band Hart, Lesh and Weir played a fund raising concert for Barack Obama's Presidential campaign last year.
