The Lemonheads To Kick Off Tour In 2009

05/29/2009

Starting off late next month will be alternative rock band, The Lemonheads, on a headline tour. This edition will be covering their upcoming ‘all-cover’ album, "Varshons." The band will head of the West Coast after kicking starting the tour in at Boston’s Earthfest. "Varshons" is an album which covers music from an assorted group of musicians - G.G. Allin to Leonard Cohen. The band said that the idea of the covers came from Gibby Haynes (of the Butthole Surfers), and they feel that making a good mix is an art in itself. Evan Dando, bandleader of the Lemonheads, released a press release which told the fans that he felt it would be fun to share the songs as Gibby had shared them with him. The band had released its eight self titled studio album back in 2007 which had closed the nine year recording gap. They featured a completely different line up during 1996's "Car Button Cloth".
